Weed eater ate my wiring to my central air compressor.
Need some help. I was weed eating around my outside coils and compressor when my weed eater cut the wire that runs from the 24 volt transformer inside. I connected the wiring back and now my air won’t come on. I have a Trane XE 60 furnace. I tried connecting “R” “Y” to see if the compressor would kick on but it didn’t. If I push in the relay on the outside unit the fan and compressor kicks on so the high voltage is OK.

You may have ruined the thermostat but more likely you tripped a mini breaker in the unit or blew a low voltage fuse.

I bypassed the thermostat and it still didn't kick on. Where is the mini-breaker or fuse located? I didn't see a fuse on or near the 24v control transformer.

It was the transformer. I had a Trane service guy come out and look at it. He replaced the transformer and relay assembly added a fuse to my system and fired it back up. Air again... How does the other half live... ;)
