Vibrating freon line
Asked Dec 5, 2008, 09:42 AM
The outside compressor on my Tappan 3 ton heat pump failed due to a short. After the new compressor was installed, the freon line began vibrating so much that it is rattling in the walls and the inside unit vibrates too. The technician lowered the amount of freon, which reduced the amount of vibration of the inside unit, but the rattling continues in the wall. He installed an anti-vibration device outside but that did not help. He said there is already a "muffler" on the outside unit.
Any ideas as to the cause and possible solution. The local HVAC company and factory rep have no solution yet.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
