Trying to install Honeywell RTH7000 to replace carrier multistage thermostat
I need help wiring the new Honeywell RTH7000 thermostat. The old thermostat used these wires.

    R
    G
    Y1
    W1
    W2
    C
There is also a black and a brown wire that have not been used.

When I tried hooking these wire (without the black and brown) to the Honeywell thermostat, the air handler tried running the heat and the AC at the same time. What did I do wrong?

Read the installation manual that came with new thermostat and make sure it is set up for the type of equipment you have.

You also posted what the terminals where but didn't tell the colors hooked to each, ex. I'm assuming W1 had a white wire to it but what did W2 have connected to it? What color did they use for C? Also see FAQ sticky at top of main page, there you will find thermostat wire codes explained.

Wires were labeled when I opened the old thermostat. I hooked up appropriately labeled wires to appropriately labeled spots on thermostat. Installation manual refers to page 18 and to get into Function 0170 in the System Setup. I cannot figure out how to get there.

I have replaced ground fault breakers without mishap and have changed out electrical outlets without mishap, so I am somewhat knowledgeable about elctricity. I always turn off the breakers before working on these items.

Labeled? What? What colors? You have to push 2 buttons at the same time, there are hundreds of t-stats on the market. Try Honeywell | Thermostat | Air Cleaners | Humidifier | Ventilation | Water System | Home Security | Gas Detector | Honeywell Thermostats
