Thermal release device gas water heater
I have a Hotpoint brand gas water heater. First off all Hot point doesn't release any parts to anyone so you have to have the parts they have overnighted to you. No big deal really if the actually overnight it which they didn't. Anyway, I need my thermal release valve replaced. Any do it yourself instructions or tips?

    Pressure release? Is so

Turn off water and gas to heater.

Remove and replace part. NOTE use pipe dope on threads.

Turn on water and relight/activate unit.

Drain the water at least below the T & P valve.

If on top a few inches. If on the side then below it.

    Big mess, otherwise.
