Tempstar furnace doesn't seem to be working correctly
I am completely ignorant about this subject, but here goes. The rental house we recently moved into is supposed to have a high efficiency central heat and air unit newly installed. The model # is FSM2x3000A, and is, I believe, a Tempstar. The vents blow cold air more often than warm and the upstairs NEVER blows warm. The unit outside our bedroom window starts and stops ebout every 30 seconds or minute or so, continuously, even when the thermostat is turned off. Our electric bill last month was almost $400, and even though it is all electric, I've been real careful about usage, so... I've never had an electric bill that high for one month. The above mentioned model # is off the unit in the basement, not the one outside. We mentioned our concern to the landlord, who sort of just blew us off about it, saying what a great unit it is. I am just wondering if you can tell me if the things I asked about are a normal part of its operation, or if it sounds like there is a problem? Here is a link that I found about this model number, if it will be helpful at all. You have a problem with the unit. Notify the landloard first and if he takes no action then have the unit repaired and deduct the bill from the rent. This might cause a world of trouble but most states have a rental/landloard law that allows this.
