    Heat pump won't turn off
So our heat pump (heater) wouldn't shut off last night. Even after resetting the thermostat. When we tried cycling the switch from hot to cold if refused to turn off still. I ended up having to cut the power to the furnace at the circuit breaker. I saw the sticky for checking if thermostat is broken but that was for if it refused to turn on. When you turned the thermostat off, did the outdoor unit continue to run or just the indoor fan? You may have a heat relay with fused contacts, keeping the auxiliary heat powered.

Does it blow warm or cool? If warm, sequencer or heat relay is stuck. If cool, fan relay is stuck.

I have a Goodman heat pump that's 5 years old (the original heat pump installed when the home was built). Today I turned the heat up from 65 to 70, the heat pump started running (it should have since it was less than 70 degrees in the house). Problem is, it got up to 75 degrees before I noticed...

Trane Heat Pump will not turn on [ 2 Answers ]

I have a Trane heat pump with the air handler in the attic. We attempted to change the thermostat from a GE to a Honeywell. I have received confirmation from a specialist that we have wired everything properly. We cannot, however, get the heat pump to engage (or do anything, for that matter). We...

Heat Pump blower, and heat, won't turn off- not contr. Bd. [ 0 Answers ]

I've read about blowers (heat pump) that won't shut off, no matter what done to thermostat, and the cause typically being a faulty control board, and/or fan relay on contl. Board. I replaced board, as tech removed green wire to demonstrate it's fault (didn't turn blower off), but tried a brand new...

Fan on heat pump system will not turn off [ 3 Answers ]

My 1 1/2 year old trane heat pump is not blowing warm air when the heat is on. Also, the fan does not turn off at the thermostat. Changed out the thermostat and the heat seemed a little warmer (not much) but fan still does not respond. Any clues?
