Thermostat wiring connector - where do the wires go?

 I'm trying to install a new Honeywell thermostat for my heating/cooling system. The old one had screws that held the wires in place. The new one has a connector with a set of holes facing up (one pair jumpered) and a set of holes facing out, and tiny screws in between. I think you stick the wire...

 Have a whirpool Senseon dryer that only has 3 connectors and the ground wire is currently screwed to the frame. My new house requires a 4 wire pigtail/plug. Do you just ground the 4th green wire to the frame? Is this acceptable wiring for this 4 wire pigtail?

 Have an old Robertshaw Energy Manager thermostat. It has a three wires connected: a G/F, a W/H/4, and one attached to B. There is also a jumper between R/RH/5 to Rc. There is no R wire.
