240V space heater to 208V supply
    I purchased a used construction 240V space heater (4.8KW) 12/2 cabtire wiring (rated 20A).

Can I connect this to a 208V supply or must I re-size any items in the space heater

A 4800 watt unit will draw 20 amps at 240 volts, and 23 amps at 208 volts. Either way, this unit must be fed by a 30 amp circuit with all #10 wire.

I have a 240v electric water heater that I am getting rid of (going NG tankless). Can I use the now unused 240v wire that comes from the breaker panel as a 120 volt receptacle so I can have a plug on the wall where the old electric water heater was? The new tankless water heater is going...

Can 208v be a substitution for 240v? [ 3 Answers ]

I've got a true 3ph 100A service and a 240v Cold Saw (for cutting steel). Can I rewire this saw for use in my 208v service? Obviously if I just grab 2 hots and the N I'll only get 208 across the poles and 120 at each leg, so I would assume that I would lose efficiency at the very least. But can...

Connecting 240v heater to 2 - 1 pole breakers [ 2 Answers ]

I have 2 - 15amp tandem breakers - both are 1 pole. I know that normally you would use a 2 pole breaker to create a 240v feed to the heater. However, if I connect my 12-2 wire to the 2 different breakers, I get 240v and my heater works correctly. Is there any problem to doing this rather than...
