Should I run my a/c blower motor on high
I have a trane 1200xe model 048 something. I have a problem keeping the temp during the day. I have it set up for 78 and after 4:30 to 75 it seems to be running all day.The temp starts to come down after 9:00. My house is about 1900 to 2000 sqr feet.
I cleaned the outside unit and the inside unit. It does not get frozen. Should I have a bigger unit.

I have a trane 1200xe model 048p. My house is 1900 to 2000 sqr ft. My a/c seems to run all day without turning off during the day. I have it set a 78 during the day and 75 after 4 pm and 70 after 8:30 but it seems to take a long time to reach those temps. After 9 it seems to start coming down. Should I change the speed on the motor or will that damage something. Also do you think a have enough tonage.

Can you measure the temp. of the air from supply vents?
Then try speeding up the blower and check the temp again, which is colder?

Unless you have some abnormal heat/cooling loss, like not enough insulation, single pane windows, doors open too much, the tonage sounds about right, was a manual J calculation done when equipment was installed?

I will check the temp from air supply but now that you mentioned it I do need more insulation in some areas of the house. I believe the calculation was done but I also added another room. I have five rooms and about 11 windows.

That is a 12 seer 4 ton unit in a 1900-2000 sq ft house? Even in a hot & humid climate that is over sized.

I wouldn't run a program for cooling, the reason is when you let the house warm up the humidity also increases then when the temperature comes down in the evening the system works harder to dehumidify the air before it starts cooling efficiently again, thus losing the majority of any electrical savings you may have gained.

Still waiting for the temperature split to be posted.

We also need the furnace model number to know what speed is appropriate, you need 1600 cfm for the system to work properly. Also, just because the blower data says use high speed, duct design, closing to many registers, air filters and dirty coils can all significantly drive down the units capacity to cool.
