    Should the outside compressor come on when the inside thermostat is off
    My outside compressor keeps running even though the inside thermostat is off.when it is on I have the heat side on.

    The unit outside should not be running when the thermostat is off. I suggest you get it fixed properly.

    The contactor in the outside unit is probably stuck.
