Replaced Outdoor Fan motor, now entire unit does not run
I have a five year old 2 ton A/C system installed in a small house that is rarely used. When system turned on, compressor would start and indoor fan blower would run, but outdoor fan would not operate. Fan blades were frozen. Replaced outdoor fan motor, including adding a new separate capacitor for fan motor (old dual capacitor still in place for compressor). Now, entire system will not run (outside and inside). Outside system (compressor and fan) will run if contactor switch is manually depressed. Did I somehow miswire the new fan assembly during installation, or perhaps did I short something out on the indoor control system? Guidance on troubleshooting is appreciated.

Check for low-voltage fuse at indoor unit. If blown, you may have accidentally pinched and/or shorted the low-voltage wiring while making repairs to outdoor unit. Do not increase fuse size as the next victim may be the transformer.

I egree with KC13, and you might also check to in sure the blower door is installed properly (they have a safety switch that the panel depress's,) or you may have pulled the plug on the furnace or turned off power. Your problem is most likely inside. Good luck. Mike

Did you put the disconnect plug outside in the off position?
