Is it possible to replace York 7 wire mercury t-stat with programmable Hunter with only 5 spots for wires or do I need to take it back?

I need to replace on old Weathtron baystat239a with a Hunter 44260 but the wiring does not match, The weathtron has 8 wires and the Hunter uses 4 wires a green, yellow and a white with a jumper between rc & rh, I don't have a wire for rc & rh. Please help.

Is there any trick to replacing a defunct thermostat? The clock on my old Honeywell Chromotherm has stopped functioning and the mechanism may be obsolete. If I need to replace the whole unit, is it necessary to cut off the electricity leading to the thermostat? Thanks much. Warren Cassell
