Remove and old General Controls Thermostat. How do I get to the subbase?
I have an OLD (70 to 80 years?) General Controls Thermostat. No more information than that. It really is not much better than a switch now. I cannot get it off the wall. It seems to be a main unit attached to a sub-base. Any ideas?

I would like to get it off the correct way - without completely destroying it.

    Thanks
