Oil burning furnace-reset light blinking-won't come on. Line stopped up? If so, how c
I have an oil-burning furnace (AirEase Advantage is the brand) It won't run. Last p.m. it would kick on & you could hear it trying to light but it never did & went back off. I would push the reset button & try again. Then it wouldn't allow me to re-set it anymore(light keeps blinking, even after pressing "re-set). It has run out of fuel several times recently & I wonder if the line has maybe stopped up? I have heard it said that if the oil runs out it can drag grit & trash from the bottom of the barrel into the line. HELP! What can I do to eliminate that possibility? Or should I? I am a single mom-3 kids-really can't afford to call someone----AND IT'S COLD! 10 degreees here last night. Thanks in advance

Well single mom it looks like you are going to be calling a oil heat service person. Who knows when the last time your unit was completely tuned up. When the reset button stops you should stop pushing it since it is a safety device designed to prevent to many false starts.

It is possible that some nasty stuff got sucked into the line for the oil but the filter should have trapped it. To do the job correctly will probably take a bit more knowledge that you have sorry to say. I understand you cannot afford to call someone but I see no other choice. I do not have a magic cure for this problem except for a complete tune up.

Oil funaces/burners should be tuned up every year!

The following needs to be replaced at the minimum.

    Oil nozzle
    Oil filter

The following work needs to be performed at a minimum and some special tools are required.

    Change nozzle
    Change fuel filter
    Bleed system
    Check pump pressure
    Gap electrodes
    Check high voltage transformer
    Adjust air over the burner
    Adjust barometric damper
Optional but smart to do clean pump screen and replace pump housing gasket.

Sorry but from here this is the best I can do.
