    Noisey trane xe 80
We have a 12 yr old trane xe 80 and when the cool air is on, we hear a noise like a fan being unbalanced. We also have on going blinking on the light inside. Can you help suggest what needs to be done? I am not sure if this is a capacitor or motor problem.

Answer 1) You have two speeds on your blower one for cooling and one for heat. The cooling speed is a higher RPM. So if the blower wheel is dirty you will notice it more in that mode. Check you blower wheel to see if its dirty.

I had a chance to get into the unit and there is a shroud around the motor. I could not figure out how to get inside or get the shroud and get to the blower however, I tried blowing air via a compressor to see if dirt would come out and not much happened. I am not even sure if the blower is in this shroud and the noise does come from within the shroud where the motor is. Could this be a motor problem?
