New Air Conditioning Unit - 100% Humidity and MOLD
When our 11 year old Trane unit failed in our Florida beach condo, we had it replaced with a 4 ton Carrier unit. It was very loud, so we had the contractor come in to see why. They made some adjustments and left. Months later we were notified by our property management company that we had significant mold in our home.

We had several mold assessors an engineer come into inspect the condo. All agreed that the 4 ton unit was oversized for a 2,000 sf condo. Also, it's a middle unit and we keep our hurricane shutters closed when we're not there. When we spoke to the contactor, he told us that the Trane unit was also 4 ton.

The humidity in the condo is 100% and the unit is short-cycling. Everything in our home is ruined and clean up and restoration (we will have to gut everything) is going to cost a fortune.

What can we do to correct this problem? It's a brand new unit and the A/C contractor is taking no responsibility.

Are you the only property to have mold damage? Do you have documentation as to the origin of this mold from the assessors, and engineer? Have you contacted the manufacturer (NOT just the contractor.) of this unit? Have you talked to YOUR homeowners insurance agent?

4 Tons way too much. No doubt it is short cycling and that is the reason for 100% humidity. No sure what best approach would be. If contractor won't help, go to manufacturer.
