Installing new thermostat. JP2 question in apartment.
I am installing a Honeywell RTH2310 digital thermostat in my apartment. My apartment has gas heating, but I have never seen the furnace (if there is one, it most likely stays on for the complex) and am not sure what this jumper does. I do not have the wiring for Rh or Rc, just W why and G. If I tested it with it set to HG would it be destructive? Or would the thermostat simply not work?

Not "why". W Y and G. Autocorrect did that.

To add: there is a blue and red wire coming out of the wall. Maybe Rh and Rc?
