    Installation of a new thermostat
I replaced my old White Rogers Heat pump thermostat model number 8848 E7 with a new
Digital Hunter Just Right digital thermostat model number 42999B. I followed the directions from the diagram shown in the instructions for a 5-wire heat and cool system. I did the following. G to G, W to W, Y to Y RH- Red wire and RC blue wire. Nothing happens. I flipped the breakers to see if that would help. Nothing I pulled the disconnect to the unit and replaced, Nothing happened. The instructions for the Hunter did show 5 wires, but did not explain what the red or blue wire was for. There was a jumper wire in the unit but the diagram showed to remove it when doing a 5 wire system. It is now 89 degrees in the house and I am at my witts end on how to fix this. Please help. Thank you

I did it myself. Hopefully! I disconnected the blue wire and ran the jump to the red wire and it stated right up. I may not have heat right now but in Florida who cares. The only concern is if this will hurt the unit or cause an electrical fire. Hopefully not.
