    I'm now thinking about just replacing the a/c system with a trane unit. Should I go with the 13 seer (base grade) or upgrade to a 15 seer unit ($900 more)?

    Get the 13 SEER. It will take forever to save the 900.00. Or if you want the facts have your contractor do a pay back calculation for you.
