How to Wire Programmable Thermostat with baseboard heat
I currently have baseboard electric heat with FPE thermostats. There are 4 wires going to the thermostats - 2 white, 2 black -- white wires go to 1 and 3 connections on the thermostat, black wires go to 2 and 4 connections. 1 and 2 connections are Line and 3 and 4 are Load, so each color goes to both Line and Load.

I recently purchased a programmable line voltage thermostat with two wires - 1 red, 1 black (Ace Hardware AELV1 made by Lux).

Is it possible to use this thermostat? If so, what's the proper wiring?

    Thanks.

Connect one line to one load and the other 2 wires to the transformer.this will complete a circuit to the heater threw the t-stat

Always use caution when working on electrical circuits

The FPE thermostats are on the wall.

Sorry for asking, but where is the transformer? In the baseboard heater?
