How to prep galvanized metal for painting?
I have a piece of galvonized metal (small sheet) that needs to be painted. Someone told me to use white vinegar on it. Do I soak it, scrub it or what? If I soak it in the vinegar... how long, and is there any other steps. I'm hoping to use spray paint... Rustoleum. Thanks, Avery

Washing with vinegar will react with the zinc coating and give you a little "tooth". I usually just lightly buff with steel wool-0 or 00, rinse with soapy water, dry, wipe with mineral spirits, dry and paint with a spray can. Never had an issue of adhesion.
