    Heater will not engage
We have a 12 year old Saverstat electronic thermostat made by Maple Chase. It was working fine. Now the furnace is not responding to the settings either in progam or manual mode. However, if I flip the separate switch just for the blower to be on, that works. I have replaced batteries, checked the fuse and reset the entire thermostat. Nothing works. The only thing that changed was that we had a pretty big storm, but did not lose power. Your ideas please.

Your thermostat has lasted 12 years and that is a good amount of time. If nothing else has changed I would be inclined to buy a new Honeywell thermostat and be done with it.

You can jump the red and white wires on the thermostat together to see if the furnace does come on. If it does the thermostat is bad.

To get a bit more information on thermostats and how they work see the sticky notes at the beginning of this board.

It may not be the thermostat. Jump out the red and white wires at the thermostat. If the heater starts, then it is an issue with the thermostat. If ot, look at the wiring, door switch, dirty air filter or call a tech.
