My Heater Will Heat then Cool?
The central heating and air unit we have is approximately 2 years old. In the summertime, the AC operates properly. However, in the winter months, the heating unit seems to be malfunctioning. We will set the thermostat to a certain temperature and the heater will heat the house to the set temperature but then the AuX Heat comes on and cools the house down once the house is cooled down the Aux Heat goes off and the heater will heat the house back to the set temperature and the cycle continues until we turn the thermostat off. Then when we turn the thermostat back on it will work properly for awhile and then the cycle of heating and cooling will begin again.

If the thrmostat is hooked up right, the control board is bad. There is a sticky that gives sources for thermostat directions. I think there is another somewhere that requests complete information in questions. Dig up the directions and make sure the thermostat is hooked up right. If so, post back with more information.

Your heater/AC control should have three settings: Heat; AC; OFF.

When the weather is cold, set it to "HEAT". If the AC cuts in at any time during this cycle, the control box is up the spout (defunct) and needs to be replaced.

Sounds like you have a heat pump. What is the actual temperature that comes out of the vent when you think it is cooling?

Sounds like the thermostat is not wired right. It takes at least 5 wires@ the stat to make a heatpump work. Make sure the W2 wire is connected from the stat to the fan coil.
