    Heater Blowing Cold Air
Hi there , last night I noticed our house was unusually cold even though I turned the temperature up as soon as I got home.We have a digital thermostat that shows the actual temperature in the house , as well as the temperature that you have it set to... I had turned it up to 22 and normally after 30 minutes or so I can see that the house temperature rises to match... last night even though we had the heat cranked up to 24 the heat in the house stayed at 18 , and the air coming out of the vents was cold ! Our house usually heats up very fast , so there is definitely a problem... We moved into the house in April , there is a sticker on the heater that says it was installed in 1998.. any ideas on what our problem is ?

    Hi Nicole.

It could be many different problems by your description. Is this gas oil or electric heat?

We know the unit has power because the blower works but are you out of gas or oil?

Brand and model number please so we can figure what may be the problem.

HI there.. sorry , I was worried I didn't have the greatest details... my husband knows more than I do.. I know for sure that it is natural gas... and yes there is definitely power because the air is blowing.. okay.. just talked to husband.. it is an Americain Standard Freedom 80 , there is no pilot light . It has an electric burner? If that makes sense ?

Could be the flame sensor. You can try cleaning it with steel wool. If you do not feel comfortable working on your furnace please call for service.

To get an idea of what the flame sensor looks like look at the sticky notes above the main heat page. There are many answers there for you.
