    Goodman A24-10 Air not blowing
I noticed this morning that the downstairs air was quite a bit colder than it should be. The Thermostat was set at 70 but it was 64 degrees in the house. I checked the vents and did not feel any air. The heat pump, however, was running. I didn't have time to check it before work so I turned off the thermostat.

When I came back home, I turned the thermostat back on and the air came back on. My happiness was short lived because a short while later the air stopped but once again the heat pump was running. This happened twice tonight. Both times when I got the air to come on, I could smell what seemed to be dust burning (much like the smell you get when the heat comes on for the first time after a long summer break). I tried the emergency heat switch but still did not get air.

I have a Goodman A24-10 Serial number 0007460348. Any suggestions on what it could be?

It sounds like you are using a heat strip for heat.(Electric heat) Your heat strip might have failed and you need to replace it. If you also have a heat pump then the outdoor unit might have a refrigerant leak. Need more info. Let me know if this led you in the right direction.

I'm not getting air blowing through the vents on normal or electric heat. I got it to blow air a few times after I turned off the thermostat and left it of for a few hours, but it would only run for a little while. When it did blow air, it was warm. When the air stopped, I would get a burning smell. The heat pump outside would still run regardless of if I was getting air to blow inside or not.

I just opened up the air handler under the house. The blower fan moves freely when I push it. I'm now trying to figure out how to test my capacitor. I have a Sperry DM-350A multi-tool, but I'm not certain on how I'm using it. When I was trying to test the voltage, I was getting a reading of 11.5-ish (it kept changing the tenths number). The capacitor I have is rated 370 VAC.

To check a capacitor you need to turn off the power to unit. Pull the wires from the capacitor very, very carefully because it holds a charge and will shock you. Then read the sticker which should tell you the mfd (microfarads). Before you put your meter on it you will need to discharge it by placing a screwdriver across ask the leads. Put your meter on mfd and compare your readings to what the sticker says. They should fall within the range not necessarily exact. It really is time to call a service tech.

Try turning the thermostat's fan switch to on. Then let me know if it blows. Do not turn on the heat or cool when you do this, I'm trying to eliminate the possibility that it might be the blower/fan motor. Then let me know what happens.
