    Fan motor over heats and shuts down while A/C keeps running
    I have replaced the furnace motor and capacitor and the motor continues to heat up and shut down while the A/C continues to run. How many hours can the fan motor run without heating up and shutting down?

    If installed correctly the fan motor should run almost forever OR until the power to the fan is stopped.

    Check to be sure the fan is turning in the correct rotation. Running in reverse will lower the air flow and also make the motor overheat.

    Make sure the motor is wired according to the diagram on the new motor itself. Many times people will just wire it the way the old one was wired and that can be a problem.

    Make sure the motor is of the correct voltage and horse power as the old one . A little larger horse power motor is OK.
