    Fan/Furnace not turning on
    Problem started last night. Before bed I went to turn the temp down on the thermostat. I got the clicking sound from the thermostat indicating that it was sending a connection to the fan. No fan turned on. I went above the desired temp and it clicked again. Back down below and again another click. Alas, no fan. I checked the breaker in the garage to make sure that it had not tripped for some reason. Turn off and on each breaker to both the AC units and both the furnaces. I checked the thermostat down stairs and no problems. So I went to bed. This morning I decided to test if the heat would come on and got the same problem, click and then nothing. The home is only 5 years only. I must admit, I have never had the HVAC units serviced since I have been here (3 years). I went up into that attic and flipped the switch, (light switch looking) that controls the power to the furnace/blower, on and off.

    I am at a loss. Any ideas before I call someone out that I can not afford right now?

    Oh Forgot to say... Fan does not turn off if I switch the thermostat from Auto to Fan.

    I have also tried to move the thermostat from downstairs to upstairs (Same electric ritetemp thermostats) and it does not make a difference.

    The low voltage transformer or fuse might be bad. If you do not know about electric and have a meter to check it with you might be better off calling for ON SITE service since you do not want to make it and worse than it is now.

    Thanks for the quick reply... No, I am not very good at electric issues. More then once I have sent 400 watts through my body. *Zap*

    I know rates and parts are different around the country, can you give me an idea of how much we are looking at? Anything else I can do to test out the problem?

    In today's world 100.00 to check it out and a simple repair is not extreme. Best to get a price for the repair when the person is there. You might get lucky and it will be just a transformer. Make sure all breakers are on. That is about all you can do without getting into the unit.
