Cool air comes out of vents
We have a goodman model number cpkj36-1ab. The heat comes on and is warm but then before it reaches the desired temperature it kicks into a cooling mode and cool air comes out of the vents. We have replaced the thermostat and that doesn't seem to help at all. The auxiliary heat is running most of the time. Thanks for any input you may have... :)

Based on what you describe, it sounds like the auxiliary heat isn't activating when the system defrosts, the heat pump isn't operating up to capacity, or a combination of both.

So far today our heat hasn't reached above 69 no matter what temperature we have the temp set at. It will reach 69 then kick into a cool down mode for a few minutes then the heat back on again... do you think it could be a relay switch or something signaling to turn on like the limit switch that I have found on another page? Thanks for your help. I appreciate your previous response.

Thank you for your assistance. We called in a repairman today and it was a sequencer that needed replaced and some wiring also that wasn't connected on one side of the unit. We had lived here for 3 years and been running on only half of the unit. Now we have heat and it is wonderful and cost less than 100.00 for the total cost. We are so thankful for it. So, again we want to say thank you for responding to our question... :)

Sounds like a happy ending AND a fair deal. Keep their number for future service needs.

Cool Vents [ 8 Answers ]

I've just moved into a house in Albuquerque. We notice that the vents in the two baths actually blow "cool" air when the heat is on. Apparently, they are at the end of ducts. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this? Is there a pressure adjustment that is perhaps too low, or is the...
