Can a r-410a txv cause premature failure on an r-22 compressor
My A/C compressor died a couple days ago. Today we had a tech out to diagnose the system. After determining the compressor was dead (and working up a quote for a replacement). He wanted to look at the coil for potential wear/damage also. At that time he discovered the coil was rated for an r-410a system and so was the txv. I know the coil itself is fine, but will the higher pressure valve cause undo/premature wear on the compressor? Ultimately causing it to fail after 7 years.

Quite possible, R-401 runs at a much higher head pressure than R-22 and compressor is designed for same.

Residential A/C. Compressor failure? [ 2 Answers ]

About a week ago, the evaporator coil started freezing up, restricting the air flow. I cleaned filters, coil, etc. No change. Decided that some of the freon charge had been lost. Found oily residue around a connection, cleaned and tightened. Evacuated and pulled a vacuum on the system for an hour...

Refrigerant Lines and Compressor Failure [ 2 Answers ]

I just discovered that my refrigerant lines are smaller than what the system calls for. My heat pump is not working. The compressor is burnt out. Will small refrigerant lines cause this to happen? My liquid line is 1/4 and my suction line is 5/8. Thanks
