Better to fix or replace
The inspector says that my Carrier gas furnace model 58WAV111-16 has a fault inducer motor assembly. One can hear it rumble, like a motor with a part going out. Would it be better to replace this part or just buy a new model? Efficiency is not a big issue here for me. How much would a new furnace cost?

How old is the thing? Did the inspector peck on the heat exchanger to assess its soundness? Unless the furnace is 15-20 year old, I think I would go with the inducer. It should be a DIY project. I installed my furnace, but still paid the contractor to start up. Installing a furnace DIY is a big project best done when you have all summer.

Yes, age would make a difference, on spending 2-3 hundred bucks,on and old dino, for me if much over 15 years old,I`d get some local prices on replacement, and around here Carrier, loves selling parts for their expensive units,

Thanks for all help. It really makes a difference. It may be obvious to you, but not to me.
One follow up question. I already own a Goodman furnace about the same BTU. Is it likely to be difficult to install a different brand?

A little nip,a little tug,, cut here, add there,, as long as they both blow in the same direction,, it can be made to fit
