    Bad odor from vents
We have two heat pumps in our home. One upstairs and one down. When the downstairs furnace or air conditioner is on, the home is filled with a bad odor. Almost smells like something decaying, sewer or natural gas  . We had the gas guy come and he couldn't find anything leaking. What might be causing this? I have scheduled someone to come clean my ducts but I am worried that it won't solve the problem and it is expensive. This has been going on now for over a year. I can't hardly stand to turn on the furnace or air conditioners any more.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Musky odor coming from heat vents [ 1 Answers ]

We installed a humidifier to our furnace in February. Could it be causing the musky odor that we periodically get from the vents? What is funny about it is that the smell is not there 24/7 and when it is present it comes more from one or two vents only. If that makes any sense.
