I'm trying to wire a 24v solenoid to my York air conditioning unit. Does anyone know how to wire it.

Here is an excerpt from a web site that sells a mister kit for about $100. They laim that it reduces your bill by 30%. I'm not buying the claim, but I would like to test the theory by using an old 24v sprinkler valve

Excerpt: The 24 Volts AC Electronic Solenoid Valve automatically turns on the misters when your AC units turns on, and automatically shuts off your misters when your AC is turned off, conserving water. This Solenoid valve is hooked up to the 24V outlet on your outdoor AC terminal.

If you have two wires going to the outside unit, the same two go to the new 24 VAC solenoid.

Evaporative cooling works in dry climates.

And your adding these misters to indoor unit?? Or outdoor unit?

Be sure to Google add misters to ac units and go through the forums. I cut and paste a few things here. They were concerns of mine when first reading your post. I can only find the company that sells the product having good things to say about this one. Persoannly if you were my customer I would rip it off your unit, and probably rip you a new one. No not really, but I would let them know.

I wouldn't recommend the mister due to the affect it has on the head pressure of your compressor. Also I would be concerned about the water hardness. The units can handle the occasional water but a constant sourse might affect the coil, compressor, fan, and electrical.

Manufacturers would have incorperated this long ago if this was feasible.
Units will rust and corrode over time and this will only add to it.

Water cooled condensers were used in the past but cost more to operate than air cooled.
Any warranty left on the unit could be voided when you change the design of its operation.
