Is the drive formatted with NTFS? If so, are the files encrypted, or are the permission set to allow 'Users' or 'Everyone' to list the folder contents, on the root of the drive?

    Hi,
Yes it is formated NTFS, encrypted not sure. Premissions are set to full control to administrators. This extrenal hard drive was used on an Win XP-Pro computer.

Hmm... can you set permissions on it from the computer you're on now? If not, try to take ownership of all the files, then change the permissions to Users full control or Everyone full control. That could be what's preventing you from viewing them... the ACL entry for Administrators *might* be linked to the SID for the administrators group on the old computer. Not saying that's what it is, but it's possible.

    Hi Chris

Changed the permissions to Everyone. This has given me full control.

    Thank you,
    Michel.. :)
