I need help with my hard disk which is not formatting.
    Dear Friends,

Please help me, I have had a Samsung 80GB PATA Hard Disk for one year using windows xp sp2. I had formatted the Hard Disk several times, but this time, the hard drive is not formatting and not deleting the partition by FDISK Command and also by DM956.

Every time I delete the partition and reconstruct it remains then same, with the existing partitions, so what can I do to recover my disk?

    Thank you

When you say that you have formatted several times, please define "several."

It is possible that you may need to get a new hard drive if you are unable to delete partitions and format. You don't want to format your drive often.

Can I ask why you keep formatting your drive?

Because of malfunctioning of operating system and effecting from virus frequently, Maximum 8-10 times I had formatted my Hard Disk but 2 days ago when I tried to reformatted the hard disk again then the whole thing happens it is not formatting and also not partitioning. When I repartitioned the hard disk, after repartitioning the hard disk partition its remain as same as previously exists I have try to upgrade (MBR)master boot record but its not done,Do we have any procedure or any hard disk maintenance software to recover the problem.

First off, stop reformatting all the time and get yourself some virus protection as soon as this is working. I recommend Avira or Avast.

Secondly, just because you run into a "malfunction" of your operating system, does not mean that you should reformat. This is always a last resort. Often times just updating some software or changing a setting can fix most issues.

And third, there is no software to fix this problem. If you have done this numerous times in the past successfully, then I trust you are not messing up the procedure. Chances are you need to get a new hard drive because this one has been formatted/repartitioned/used to death. It is never a good sign when you are unable to format a drive.

You can try KillDisk which will do a secure reformat of the drive. I would do just a single 0 wipe. But be warned that doing this on a failing drive will almost certainly crash the drive the rest of the way. I only recommend this solution since you are not trying to recover data from the drive.

    * Search Google for KillDisk and you will find it. It is a free program.
