What will colour stripper do to red hair?
    Hi again,

I asked a similar question yesterday but I don't think I phrased it very well.

I've been dyeing my hair red for a few years now, but I'm finally getting tired of it.
I'm considering using colour stripper, but what will this do - make it lighter or darker?

I'm naturally a medium brown, but my hair's been 'topped up' with red so many times I doubt there's any brown left at all!

    Thanks x

Have you been to a salon? No matter what u've done to it in the past a hairdresser is the best for this. Stripping your hair back is returning it to your natural colour. Sometimes this will take a month or so to calm down but red is not drastic from brown. I am not a hairdresser but bleaching naturally dark hair is harder to return to a natural colour. A few months of NOT dying will tell! Let it grow out... go a bit out there and cut it if its long! I don't know if your hairdresser would strip it back, they may tell you to let it grow out? If u visit a salon you don't have to go through with anything... but the advice will be good. I'm all for experimenting at home but when things get to far, you need a pro! Hav you heard stories of turning your hair green etc.?

P.S Just read previous post... ur hair colour is... just that! It will eventually go/grow back to what it was. Depending on how long you want to wait for re-colouring. I think I may be about the same colour, and have also, usually added red colours, they work best. Lighting hair is tricky when your darker, leave the lightner on to long & it goes an orange colour. My most recent was the best I've had, using streaks NOT foils for about 1/2 hour.

If you want to go blonde, you will need to lighten your hair with bleach to a yellow stage and then apply a toner. You should consider going to the salon to get it professionally done.
