    Lighten hair
Okay I dyed my hair in August. I now want to lighten it. I have been thinking of bleaching it with house bleach. My hair is a light brown and is naturally light brown. Do you think that something such as lemon juice or sun in would help lighten my hair? Or any other suggestions to lighten it will be greatly appreciated.::EDIT:: or if I were to buy a super blonde hair kit would that help lighten it? I mean it is already a light brown.::another edit:: peroxide? That might work. But how long should I leave it in?::yet another edit:: I am seriously considering using the blonde dye. But if I do how llong should I leave it in? Will it leave highlights or lowlights? If I buy a dark blonde/light brown and leave it in for a few minutes after I do the other will it leave lowlights? Or is there some type of lowlighting hair dye kit?

If I were you ae0220 I wouldn't put household bleach in. It will ruin your hair in every way possible. Why don't you buy a natural light blonde in a brand of your choice and I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. Let me know how it turns out. I've had many experiences with hair colours but I'm no expert. Good luck!

Just use the light blonde and with your hair darker now it should leave a touch of a highlight look. Just leave it in as recommended on the package. Usually thirty or forty minutes. Don't forget to let me know how it turns out. I use a brand called excellence but I don't know if you can buy it where you live but it's the best that I've used so far.

Do not use household bleach on your hair because it can cause serious burns. Hydrogen peroxide is what you use to bleach hair.

Remember that your hair won't look like the picture on the box if you use an at-home color on your hair. It could result in an uneven or brassy shade. In order to go from brown to blonde, you will need lighten your hair with bleach (hydrogen peroxide) and then apply a toner to make the color look natural. Some hairstylists will do a single coloring process to achieve a blonde shade by using a stronger volume peroxide developer with the selected color. It's best to get your hair done professionally.

Prettylady, so even using an ash blonde would probably mess it up?

If your hair is already died, dying it blond yourself will turn it orange or your roots will be super light and the rest will be a different shade. I've done it before and then I had to pya 160$ to get my hair fixed professional. If I were you id go to a cheap hair dressing place and get it done, then at least you'll be sure it comes out the right color and if it doesn't they have to fix it for free. Bleaching your intire head no matter what will damage your hair badly, that's why to go back to blonde I just get highlights over highlights till my hair is completely blonde. Takes about 2-3 times at the hair dressers so about 6 months. But in the end your hair doesn't just break off. I went from almost black to blonde. Then back to dark brown and now its redish with blonde. But I almost killed my own hair by doing it myself. Plus buying store products costs almost the same has getting it done at somewhere like "first choice". And store bought hair die, has metallic things in it that sticks to your hair and that's why when you try to die it again a different color it never turns out right. If I were you, I wouldn't do it myself

Sweetie, using a box of hair color will not make your hair blonde without resulting in an unpleasant brassy color. If you want a decent blonde shade, you will need to lighten your hair and then deposit the selected color. Some women use at-home box colors and they usually end up ruining their hair. It's best to get it done professionally.

it depends on how dark your hair is.. super dark hair plus hydrogen peroxide = orange.

have it professionally done. Save yourself some time, money, and embarrassment (:
