I am not a hair dresser and I am sure one will be along who is an expert in the field to give more suggestions. I would purchase a deep cleansing shampoo and use it at least once a week for a few weeks, in between, use a moisturising shampoo and light conditioner. Clorine can certaily dry and dull the hair. If you do not brush hair and massage scalp regularly, the hair folicles could be being affected. Have you begun any new medications? A lot of meds can cause loss of hair. If you are not eating healthy, this can also contribute to hair loss.

The only way masturbation could be contributing to hair loss would be if you are feeling extreme guilt over doing so. Stress can be a factor in hair loss also.

Keeping the hair folicle clean and stimulated (deep cleansing shampoo and brushing hair or massaging scalp), eating healthy, getting supplements if you feel you are not getting vitamins and minerals needed in your daily diet would be a good place to start.

I will also mentnion that hormone imbalance, whether in men or women, can cause hair to lack luster, become brittle and cause hair loss. A specialist can do a hormone level check for you, either a gynecologist or one who does prostate checks, etc. (mentioning both not knowing what gender you are). Men's hormone balance can be low but it is rarely checked unless requested by the patient. They give pills, gel to rub into skin, or injections. Injections seem to be most effective. Family doctors can also do the test, it is just a blood test, but I had one from a regular physician as I was having lots of symptoms of low hormone levels. He told me my hormone level was fine. I saw the report. It said, "Prepuberty level". That didn't sound right. I went to another doctor, he tested, prescribed a pill, within three weeks, much better. Later added one to dissolve under the tongue and my hair took on new luster and elasticity.

Thyroid problems can also cause hair loss. I know there are many causes so I am just naming some that come to mind. A doctor would need to examine you and do tests probably to determine if it is health issues causing the problem. Stress is a health issue but unless you are under extreme duress, I would look at some of the other issues first. Best to you!

Just some ideas to ponder until you hear from an expert.
