It might. But if you have had a good record since it should be OK.

It can depend on why, and of course what college you are trying to get into, if you want to go to Harvard, or to the Naval Academy, this may have a larger effect than if you want to go to a JR college or a state college.

Normally keep you out ( unless your parents are super rich)

I am not sure the percentage of people accepted to harvard and similar schools, but it can even go back to what pre-school you went to as to who is accepted, although grades and high school activities mean the most, every aspect of your school carrer can be and will be reviewed by most major schools. Often in some schools it is also who recommends you, having a well known sponsor to a school is a real help

Yes, it can affect you. When you are talking about Harvard versus your local community college. Unless, like Fr. Chuck stated, your parents can buy your way in. If you make a concerted effort to improve yourself, that will be noted on your school record also. Are your grades excellent? An Ivy League school takes the crème of the crop. Hope your efforts toward this goal works out for you.

Now of course it is not the end of the world, since most people don't go to harvard, most people go to Mo Univ, or Uiv of GA or what ever is their state college in their state.

And even most people that actually graduate from Harvard don't enroll there for first year, many go to another college for the first couple of years and transfer in latter.

Anyone, I don't care if you were expelled 8 times during high school, dropped out and went back and got a GED, there are colleges you can go to. And in general except for a few major schools, a college degree is a college degree

It is true that it should not matter which college you go to for your degree. For example, I have my first degree from a Catholic college, a rather snobby one at that, but there were people who got a teaching job who graduated from a state college. To some employers it does not matter. What matters is the person. Of course, you can find employers to whom t does matter.

Instead of a college focusing on the suspension, I think they would rather focus on what happened after the suspension - what you did to better yourself and keep on track. Who is perfect in this world?

If you were trying to get into a school where there is a lot of competition for spaces, then it would have more effect since they have a surplus of candidates. But if you are going to a state school, its unlikely to have any effect.
