I'd definitely be leery and search well for reviews of the particular model you're looking for... and the warranty on it.
What model are you looking at?

Me... absolutely not... unless it was dirt cheap. You'd get the same quality from a murray... also they basically reuse the mowers... every mower they make has the same everything frame wise. Take a troy bilt and paint it green... tada you have the bolens, paint it yellow and call it a cub cadet... Btw, the lower end toro's sold at Lowe's or home depot are mtds, just rehooded and badged mtds. A mtd falls in the line of being a throw away mower...

If you go looking husqvarna, remember the sears craftsmans are made by the same guys owned by electrolux. I own a 05 model in a lt2000 sears. All in all, the only problems so far was a tire losing air pressure from running over something, sqeeky hood and the steering wheel got loose (the nut was never tightened down good)... They can (with proper maintenance) last you years upon years... (not to mention the great warranty sears has)

The day I gave away my beaten up, ugly, but always reliable craftsman for the toro that my father-in-law gave us is a day ill always regret.
