College bound but have felony on record
    Greetings,

I am currently in my 40's and on my way to start a new career, college bound thinking along the line of maybe law. A few yrs back I took a course to become a Nortary, passing but was denied by the state. When I was 18 I did some dumb things, but moved on quickly and been a good girl for the past 25 years. Mostly raising my family, So now I am wondering what career might be in jeopardy because of my past.
    Thank You

Depends on what career in law you are considering - if you didn't pass the background check to become a Notary I would guess you aren't going to pass a background check for any professional license.

That's how it works in NY, at least.

If your state allows expungement I would definitely look into that aspect. Hire a criminal attorney to do this for you because as Judy pointed out, you will be severely limited in your career choices.
