Do you think this is a good idea? What should she do?
I have a friend who is a senior in high school. She's having a lot of problems at home financially and mentally. She is also not stable with a home(she goes from onefamily/friend house to another). She wants to go to college. Her grades are good and everything. But she really didn't apply to colleges this year. She wants to take a year off so that she can get a job and work to save money to get a little apartment then go 2 school next sept. But here's the thing how do she get all her transcripts and things that she need to send to the colleges, and she also wants to take the s.a.t again how do she do that? Do you think this is a good idea? (To get a job and apartment then go 2 college) so that she can be focused and don't have to worry about where she is going to sleep?

Please post your question once. I think she needs to do what makes her emotionally and financially secure. She gets her high school transcripts when they are available and then forwards them when she applies to a College; she takes the SAT (again) when ready.

Is this the same friend whose boyfriend broke up with her?

Maybe she can apply to a community college. Some of them don't have application deadlines. She can take the sat again at her school or at another school. On collegeboard.com when she signs up for the sat, she can choose any high school to take the test. They have a testing date coming up in June. She should also apply for financial aid by filling out a FAFSA form online. This way she can get money for college. If it were me, I wouldn't take off for a year, but if that is the best thing for her financially, than she should. When she has to apply after a year, she can get her transcripts sent to colleges by either going to the school's guidance department or through the high school's website and request a transcript. She should talk to her high school guidance counselor about applying to college after a year and how to do it exactly.
