You don't have to attend four years of college, but you want to have more in your pocket than a dream of being an actress. An associate program for two years at a community college will give you an Associate's degree. Also, all community colleges have certificate programs (less than two years) toward being a hospital lab worker or a certified nurse assistant (CNA) or a day care worker or a library technical assistant (LTA), etc.
Like someone said earlier, it's good to have a career to fall back on or to support yourself with until you can earn money acting.
Meanwhile, join the community college's or your village's theater group or a speaker's group or the Toastmaster's Club to gain experience in speaking and in doing your best in front of a lot of people.
