    Belford University
Recently I was approached by a person who claimed he had a doctorate in criminolgy, he claimed he got it from Belford University. When I checked it I found a host of sites to say it was a dubious qualification to say the lest. When I put this to him, he stated that he got his when Belford was a physical universityand paid 17 thousand dollars for his Doctorate and four years of study. Try as I may I can not find anywhere on line where it states that Belford university was anything other than an online Institute.
He claims he done his course in the early 2000s.
    My question is
Was Belford a physical university at any stage with a recognised by the US Dept of Eduaction ?

Here's a start: Belford University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The school is not accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Neither of the organizations from which Belford claims accreditation, the International Accreditation Agency for Online Universities (IAAOU) and the Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation (UCOEA), are recognized accreditation associations of higher learning.[2] Without recognized accreditation, Belford's degrees and credits might not be acceptable to employers or other academic institutions, and use of degree titles may be restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions.

It doesn't appear to be the case. All signs are pointing to it being a degree mill.
