50 lbs. in two months is way too much to lose all at once, in two months. 2 lbs. a week is pretty normal with diet and exercise, lots of water to flush out your system every day and remove toxins and definitely three meals a day, and no starving, lots of walking always does it for me fairly quickly. You don't want to lose muscle mass, just fat.

Lots of veggies, no white bread, whole wheat bread is better, lean meat, chicken, fish.

What you need to do is lower your body fat percentage, and this comes from healthy and steady weight loss of no more then 3 pounds a week. So your going to lose weight just not 50 in so short a period. Lossing weight quickly can be done, but this loss will be from fluid losses which you can regain rather quickly. So now that you know this if you want to start you have to begin with healthy and natural foods in the right quantities. You need 2-3 servings of Milk, yogurt and cheese, 1 serving is 1 cup Low fat, skim milk, cottage cheese, or low fat, skim or partially skimmed cheese a serving of cheese is 1 1/2 oz. And the reason for this is calcium regulates energy metabolism, which increases fat breakdown and decrease tha amount of body fat. (The calcium seems to increase the bodys core temperature and causes it to burn calories faster). You need Whole grains, wheat for instance, instead of white flour products, wheat, bread, cereals, rice and pasta. A serving of this is; 1 slice of bread, 1/2 cup rice, cereal, or pasta. You need 3-5 serving of veggies, a sering is 1/2 cup leafy veggies, 1/2 cup cooked or raw, and 3/4 cup veggie juice, Fruits 2-4 servings, 1 medium sized fruit, 1/2 cup chopped, or cooked, or 3/4 cup 100% fruit juice. You should also have some beans, lean meat or fish 2-3 servings, a serving is 1/2 cup cooked beans, 1/3 cup nuts, or seeds, and 3 oz of lean meats, like skinless chicken, turkey breast, loin type meats or fish. You need to cut out soda, presweetened drinks and drink a lot of water, cut out junk food, like cakes, chips, cookies, candy, anything high in sodium or sugar. Smaller portions is the key, read nutritional labels, and stick to the one portion size of whatever you eat, cut out fast foods, and fried foods. And lastly you have to exercise, 4-5 times a weeks, work in some aerobics, resistance training, walking, jogging, biking, but at least 30-60minutes worth--you have to work the whole body and get your metabolism moving to lose weight! It's going to take dedication and hard work but you can lose some of the weight, this way!

I want to lose this weight because I'm going back to school in two months and I don't want to be the "fat" girl anymore.

You don't lose 50 lbs in 2 months without damage to yourself.
You start a good proper diet, and increase your expercise every day. You will hve lost some, but you keep this up and over time you will start properly losing weight

    Hi valgal ,
Good time of the year to lose weight ! I'm guessing you are younger , a student ? Ok you can make great progress just in June and July then it gets slower . I have to say 30-35 pounds loss is about the best you can hope for and that loss will require a great effort .
Of course I always stress to drink 4-5 liters of water every 24 hours . You can read my other posts for exercise suggestions . I don't know what you have to work with ? I get a little extreme with exercise but it works for me . Workout twice a day , 2-3 times in June then in July you will need to skip a day a week .
Much good nutrition advice on this board much of which is suited for you . Water water water!! Enjoy the heat .
    Good luck... Russell

it's cool you want to lose 50 pounds. That's what I'm trying to do. The amount you should lose in a month is between 8 to 10 pounds. So in 2 months you could lose around 20 pounds which isn't a bad start. And remember, IF someone calls you fat, know that you are trying to lose weight and will definitely lose it! An estimated amount of months it would take to lose that much weight would be 5 - 6 months. I know it sounds like a lot but it's not. It's only half a year and it will go by quickly. The less the portion size and the more variety (fruits and vegggies) will lose you the weight more quick. Try eating lemons, if they're too sour put one in water to get rid of most of the sour taste Lemons boost metabolism and make you lose weight. Exercize is a great way to get in shape. If you think 2-3 pounds a week is small, it's not. 160 nails = 1 pounds of weight loss.
which means 50 pounds is 8000 nails. It seems like a lot but remember 1 pounds is 160 nails so it will go by rather quickly. There are many tips online you can check out too!

    hope this helps!

This is good advice 2-3 lbs a week is a great weight loss it is steady and prevents weight gain, also there's 3500 calories in 1 pound of stored fat, so reduction of caloric intake is a must. Try filling a gallon jug with water, sugar free cranberry juice, and 2 tbsp real lemon juice and drink throughout the day. You definitely are right on with the exercise advice, you need smaller portions, healthier choices, and exercise in order to achieve your goal. These changes need to be lifelong changes, slow and steady is the way to go!;)

Cold hard fact: there is no way to safely lose 50 pounds in 2 months without surgery.

Good news: You can look like you lost 10 to 15 pounds with good posture and wearing clothes that fit your properly and are meant to accentuate what is best on your figure while playing down your problem areas.

I love this show What Not to Wear : TLC

They really teach folks how to make the best out of any figure. I have noticed that even thin girls today look chunky because they wear clothes way too tight which causes noticeable bulges and muffin tops.

Finding confidence in yourself will make you attractive, no matter what the number on the scale says.

Another aspect that's missing from the equation is this:

50 pounds lost from a person who weighs 500 pounds is a different animal entirely from the same 50 pounds on a person who weighs 185.

The bottom line is this: At your age, if you focus on "losing weight" instead of "building a healthy body" you will likely fail before you even start.

If you mess with your metabolic foundation now, it will reap negative fitness results well into the future.

I'll give the same advice to you that I gave another young person on this board, and that I've given to every young client who worked with me in the past: Invest time in learning about the human body from fitness experts, not weight-loss consultants, and put your mental focus on "building" rather than "losing"

I'm not talking about becoming Arnold Schwarzenegger, either. I'm talking about the internal mental knowledge of understanding how your cells function and having the confidence to realize that you've built your body to become as efficient in this regard as possible.

If you accomplish that, you will never worry about your weight ever again.

Oh, and 1 more thing... let's say you only lose 25 pounds in 12-17 weeks, but your body composition is much healthier.

What you, and everybody else, will notice is that you will be slimmer, you'll need smaller clothes because the old ones will hang off you, and you'll LOOK and FEEL like what you've always wanted.

Your body"weight" might not be as low as you wanted, but your body"mass" will vastly superior and I guarantee you'll hear compliments.

Just remember: Body mass/composition is a measure of health. Body "weight" is a measure of gravity... and of social nonsense :)

I don't think you can lose 50lbs in two months, no matter what you do. I,too, need to lose 50lbs quickly. I'm having surgery in 2 months and the doctor said I would have better success if I lose the weight. I absolutely hate exercising! I have been on every diet in the world and had lapband surgery. Had to have the band removed because of complications. I lost from 240 to 155 with the band and that took 2years! I gained back up to 200 in 2yrs after removal of the band. In otherwords, I didn't learn my lesson about healthy eating and exercise with the help of the band. I regret taking the band off but it probably would have killed me to leave it on. Anyway, I am going to concentrate on healthy eating and small quantities. I am drinking hot tea with Truvia in it when I crave sweets or snacks. It is a good distraction. I am walking every day but not for 30min each time. I think as long as I do something it's better than nothing. I would love to "work out" and "diet" with you on line. Just give encouragement and tips. If you want I will give you my email. Just respond here! Good Luck! We can do this1!
