I don't want to be like this anymore.
Hey, I'm lichelle and I was referred to this site by a friend. Anyway, I'm 17, 5'9, and around 200 lbs.
I've heard muscle weighs more than fat, and I'm not using that as an excuse for being the weight I am, I am at this weight - because I am lazy. I want to lose fat, and build muscle.

Here's what I'd like to find out :
    - The right 'diet' (what should I eat? What should I stay away from? Is there any way I should cook anything ?)
    - What weight should a person my height be ?
    - Work outs and Exercises.. THAT WORK,things I can do at home. Possibly 'fast' and something I will stay interested in, how long should I do the work out/exercise for?
-I also need to find the right frame of mind. ( I have sort of a bad attitude about being over weight, "I'm always going to be like this no matter what I do" type of thing)
    - Ways to change my lifestyle quickly.
    - meal portions.

And ANYTHING else you can think of, thanks !:)

Hi, I'm not sure abou texcercising and diet, I'll let someone more qualified answer that. However I've worked out your BMI and the weight you need to be to have a healthy BMI of 20-25.

At the moment your BMI is 29.5, this is the very top of the overweight category. BMI of 30 is clinically obese. (you need only an extra 2 lbs to hit this).

To reach a BMI of 20-25, which is "normal", you will need a weight of 136-170 lbs. Preferably somewhere in the middle so about 150lbs.

    Hope this is useful :)

For me personally, i think you should eat what you crave, just in smaller portions. When your deprieved eventually your going to give into it e.g. the need for chocolate and benige on it. Im watching my weight and i eat the same foods i did before, but in smaller portions (like eating off a smaller plate). The really bad stuff like pizzas, chocolate, chips, any take-aways I still have but in modoration. Brown pasta and rice are suppose to be good for you. Never miss breakfast! I have activia yogurt most morning. It keeps me going until 11,12 o'clock then i have a snack before lunch at 1.30. They make you feel fuller for longer. When you do snack have a piece of fruit. Oh, soups are suppose to be good too. Homemade is always better than out of the can if you have time to prepare your lunches. You can always do this the night before. Its better to make your own luches than to go out and buy one.

    - Work outs and Exercises.. THAT WORK,things I can do at home. Possibly 'fast' and something I will stay interested in, how long should I do the work out/exercise for?
I find it hard to keep up the same old regular exercise. So you could change it up every week. Or if you find something you enjoy, stick to it. I like to skip. Its a good cardio exercise and it works on the calve muscles as well. Sit ups, and push ups, squats for toning. Walking is good, so if its possible to walk where you used to drive or take a bus etc, walk in stead. Your workouts you can start off with minimal like 10 minutes. Wekk 2, 15 minutes and increase it to at least 30 minutes every other or every other 2 days. Give time for your body to recover.

    Hope this helps

A lower body fat % comes from a healthy and steady weight loss program. Eating natural, lowfat, low sugar, low calorie foods in small servings. Cut out all fast foods, fried foods, cakes, cookies, chips, soda, and processed foods, ice cream. Change from white flour to whole grains like wheat bread, rice and pastas. Choose low fat 1-2% or skim milk, low fat, low sodium cheese and includenon fat yogurt, even frozen yogurt, but again choose the non fat fat kind. You need 2-3 servings of milk, nonfat yogurt and cheese a day. 1 serving is 1/2- 1 cup milk, 1 cup yogurt, 1 1/2 oz. cheese, Meats like skinless chicken, fish or lean cuts of meat, should only weigh 3 oz! One serving of rice, cereal or pasta, whole grains, is 1 slice of bread, 1/2 c rice, cereal or pasta. And you need 2-11 serving of this group per day. Veggies 3-5 servings per day 1 serving is 1/2 leafy veggie, 1/2 cooked or raw, or 3/4 cup veggie juice. Choose nuts or seeds as a snack or to cut cravings but only 1/2 oz which about the size of a open palm. Eat lots of fruits, 2-4 servings a day. Broil or bake your meats, and use canola or olive oils. Use cooking sprays or spreads, instead of butter or margarine. And drink lots of water, especially before meals, water helps boost your metabolism by increasing your oxygen levels. To lose weight you need to reduce your calories below what your normal intake is. If your eating more calories then your expending your not going to lose weight no matter what type foods you eat. Then the exercise program is a must, aerobic exercise, weight training, weight training is great because it will increase your lean body mass which raises your resting metabolic rate, when you speed up your metabolism, you burn more fat. Resistance training another good option, walking, biking, running, jogging, just keep yourself active, exercise 30-60 minutes a day, 4-5 times a week. If you work at this and stay focused on what you want to accomplish it can be done. Write down what you eat for a couple of days, and then review it, and see what changes you can make. You can change your body, it just takes a little work!:D

    Hi there!
If you are 5'9 you should be weighing at least 68 kg. and the total energy requirement you should have is around 2200 kcal. I think the best thing that you can do is to avoid too much sweet foods and drink a lot of water and more on fruits. Exercising is a must like doing jogging and practice walking always not just riding on car. You should start losing weight know because tomorrow may be too late for you... take care and God bless!

I'm going to answer this question differently then everyone else. I know how you feel. I'm 21 and I am roughly 200. I'm 5.5. All my high school days I've felt like I was fat or unattractive. I even stopped eating in 10th grade. I lost a lot of weight and even then I thought I was still fat. Two years ago I met my fiancé. Now that I'm living with him, I tend to say or think I'm fat and ugly. But he always reminds me that I'm perfect to him. That I'm attractive to him. When I look at all the other ''big'' people in the world, most are a lot worse off them me. So what I'm saying is, it helps to have a friend who can tell you you look fine. 200 isn't that bad to begin with. The PROBLEM with the world today is we all think skinny is healthy and sexy. That that's what EVERYONE should be. Well women need to know, that curvy is just fine. If your friends stick by you, and if your man does too, who care's what the world says. Sure I'd like to be 140 or so, but hey if my fiancé loves me the way I am, if he thinks I'm beautiful curvy then hell, I'm good with it. You should be too. Is there someone telling you need to lose weight? If so, ignore them or get away from them. Tell them, I'm beautiful and that's all I need to be happy! If none of these apply and you just honestly want to lose weight to lose it, then more power to you! Great for you. Just PLEASE remember that your beautiful the way you are. A boyfriend can be a main reason for putting these thoughts in a girl's head, as well as friends or peers. Like I said I'm 200 but I still have an hourglass type figure, so I'm OK with my body until I lose that. You should make sure you want to lose weight for the RIGHT reasons. Good luck and I really hope this helps. If you'd like to check out YouTube for Tyra Banks Show. She had an episode on this topic.

Rayne, I totally agree with you. And am attracted to a more curvy woman.

However for their height, 200lbs is nearly obese. It has significant consequences to their health. Something like 80% of people with diabetes are overweight, and the heightened risk of heart disease is huge.

It isn't about looking good, it's about living a long and healthy life. You don't "just need to feel beautiful to be happy".

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that its OK to be unhealthy. I was going to add that, lol but didn't. I am 200 but I do not feel I'm un-healthy. I eat snacks once and a while, but I'm not all that un-healthy. If I was, that's a different story. I think some women can be curvy and healthly that was my point. I'm sorry if it seemed otherwise. Here's a link to my question on this type of subject:
