    Firefox speed
    I started using Firefox earlier this month. I have discovered that it is no faster than IE7, and often slower. There are times when it just goes into slow motion and doesn't want to load a page at all. (Sites that I frequent so it isn't the site.) When that happens, if I close Firefox and try again it's still slow. But if close Firefox and open IE7, the site loads quickly.

    Is this normal performance for Firefox?

    OS = Vista home premium.

    Firefox on Vista is the only browser I use, and I don't find it slow at all. In fact I find it faster than IE7. Maybe go to the Firefox website and see if there are updates available. :)

    If you would like a JUST comparison leave a part of Firefox running ALL the time as IE does: it will naturally 'start' faster.

    try using a FRESH (new) profile... no extensions and whatnot:

    your OS requires AT LEAST six gigs of ram to function fully and correctly... unfortunately for you your hardware only has four gigs of address space only some of which can be ram.
