    The Journal shows all outgoing, and all incoming, dollars.

    Keeps the people (especially the big bosses) aware of what is being done so that they know what are the transactions being carried out.

    Also, it's to keep track to their trades, whether they are making profit/progress or not.

    Plus those can be verified to see if there were any errors in the past.
