What is the proper way to pay a lawyer ?
I am hiring a lawyer for my girlfriend to represent her in court as she has a restraining order against her ex boyfriend. The lawyer is charging me a flat fee and will go back to court with her if the order is violated as many times as necessary. We are meeting the lawyer tonight the fee is 3500.00 ,how much of the fee should I pay her tonight, all of it or a part of the fee.

I don't know how much you should give her as a down payment. Can't you ask her ? I just hope you have it in writing that she will go back to court as many times as necessary. $3500. Is a lot of money; your g/f is a lucky lady.
