What can I do about my 15 1/2 year old daughter
My daughter was dating a boy he was 16 and just turned 17. I warned them both not to have sex, and I specifically spoke to the boy (and her) and told him I did not want him having sex with my daughter, he agreed. Now I find out they did apparently many many times, at his home while his guardian (his grandfather) was there. (I had spoken to Grandpa as well and asked him to never to let them be alone in this boys room even to just watch a movie). Now they are broke up and my daughter is still trying to get back with him. What is the deal? Can I call the cops on this boy for having sex with my daughter now that he is 17? I am not just an angry parent because he broke up with her because I just found out about this. Not sure what to do? What are my legal rights in protecting her, and can I get good ole grandpa in trouble because he was home apparently at the time and allowed this to happen, right in his home?

First off not knowing the laws of your state its difficult to answer. Many states have a 2 or 3 year rule. So it depends on what state your living in as to what can happen. Another thing is that unless they were doing it in front of the grandfather then its not likely you can hold him responsible either. It was the choice of both your child and the boy.

Where this is makes a big difference. In many US states 16 is a legal age.

ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

While 16 is the age of consent in most US states, many have a close in age exemption that will preclude charging him with statutory rape. Also there is the issue of proving it. Without evidence of sexual contact, if they deny it no prosecutor is likely to prosecute.

And why are you upset with grandpa? He has no responsibility for your daughter. Your ire should be directed at your daughter for her risky behavior.
