You can petition the court for a modification of the child support order if you have had a significant decrease in pay.

The time to present your case to the judge was during the initial hearing. I can't totally vouch for Florida but in my state child support is set according to your income. About the only thing that would trump your income as it appears "on paper" would be having other child(ren) to support. But once it's a done deal, the only way to get it modified (at least in my state) is to show an appreciable "change in circumstance", such as losing your job, having another child, taking a substantial pay cut, etc. Unfortunately, even though I sympathize with you, saying "I can't afford to live" isn't going to cut it.

I take exception to the statement that you are being robbed. As for child support, you fathered the child, you have the responsibility to support the child. Since most support is based on income, you are being treated the same as most other fathers required to pay support.

As for taxes, generally you reap some benefit from your taxes. You have police to provide a level of protection, the same for fire fighters. You have roads to drive on, water to drink, parks to relax in, and a whole load of other services that your taxes go to pay for.

So the bottom line is, if you feel your support payments are too high, or feel they are not being used to feed and clothe your child go back to court and ask for a modification.
